Itinerary

Highlights of the trip will include:

  • tours of key sites in Israel, such as the Old City;
  • exposure to Israel's approach to national and community service;
  • interchange with young Israelis involved in community service programs;
  • exploration of the Israeli education system;
  • exposure to Israel's top service leaders and programs;
  • shared experiences with Israeli programs similar to Teach for America;
  • cultural and social experiences; and
  • reflection and exploration on the values that drive your professional
    aspirations and volunteerism.

Requirements

  • You must be a member in good standing of the 2008 or 2009 Teach for America corps.
  • You must be available for 3-4 evening conference calls in the months preceding the experience.
  • You must be willing to engage fully in an effort to integrate the experience into your work and personal life back home.

Criteria for Selection

  • As a leadership development opportunity, applicants will be selected based on prior achievements, potential to transform participation into meaningful action, and ability to contribute positively to the group experience.
  • This opportunity is intended for 2008 and 2009 corps members who have affiliations or interests in the Jewish community.
  • Preference will be given to applicants who are Birthright eligible.
